High-Accuracy Crude Oil Characterisation Using Simdist-DHA Merge
Accurate boiling point distribution data is essential for crude oil valuation, refinery planning and process optimisation. Conventional simulated distillation methods such as ASTM D7169 and ASTM D7500 provide fast results, but can suffer from limited resolution in the C5–C9 range and interference from carbon disulfide used as solvent.
The GAS Crude Oil Analyser – Simdist-DHA Merge combines high-temperature simulated distillation with Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis (DHA) front-end data according to ASTM D7900. By merging high-resolution DHA data for light hydrocarbons with Simdist results for heavier fractions, the analyser delivers a single, highly accurate True Boiling Point (TBP) report. The system integrates two dedicated GC analysers with a shared autosampler and fully automated calculations in Chromeleon CDS, resulting in improved accuracy, efficient operation and reduced laboratory footprint.
