Ultra-Trace FAME Analysis in Aviation Jet Fuel
With the increasing use of multiproduct pipelines, Aviation jet fuel is frequently transported after biodiesel batches in multiproduct pipelines. As a result, trace amounts of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) can contaminate jet fuel. Even very low FAME concentrations can impact fuel system performance, prompting aircraft OEMs to impose strict limits of 5 mg/kg total FAME in jet fuel.
The GAS FAMEs in Jet Fuel Analyser provides a validated GC-MS solution for quantitative determination of total FAME content in jet fuel according to IP 585/10. Using a single-column GC-MS method with combined full scan and Selective Ion Monitoring (SIM), the analyser reliably identifies and quantifies key FAME species between 0.5 and 100 mg/kg, even in the presence of high-end naphtha background components.
