High-Precision LPG Analysis with Maximum Laboratory Safety
LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is widely analysed for composition, quality control, and trace impurities before distribution. It is primarily used for energy applications (including residential, industrial, commercial and transport fuel) or used as a chemical feedstock. Accurate analysis is essential, particularly when heavier hydrocarbons, sulphur species, oxygenates, or permanent gases are present. Due to the high pressure of LPG, safe and controlled sample handling is a critical requirement in laboratory environments.
The GAS LPG Analyser is a customised GC solution designed for accurate and reproducible analysis of LPG and related liquefied gases. Liquid injection using a Liquid Sampling Valve (LSV) is preferred to prevent loss of higher boiling components, while gas injection via a Vaporiser supports lighter fractions and permanent gas analysis. The Sample Securitiser ensures safe high-pressure operation in full compliance with PED and ATEX directives.
Applications
- Supported methods:
ASTM D2163, D2712, D4424, D5303, D5504, D6159, D6228, IP 264/72, 405, CD/96/97, ISO 7941 - LPG Composition Analysis (C1–C10)
Accurate determination of hydrocarbon composition using
– liquid injection to preserve heavier components (using LSV and Sample Securitiser) or
– gas injection for components lighter than C6 (using GSV and vaporiser). - Trace Sulphur Analysis in LPG
Measure H₂S, COS, mercaptans and other sulphur species at ppb/ppm levels using FPD, PFPD, MS or SCD detection.
- Permanent Gas Analysis
Detect low-level permanent gases such as H₂, O₂, N₂, CO and CH₄ using PDD or TCD with effective LPG matrix backflush.
- Oxygenates and Additives Monitoring
Analyse oxygenated components in LPG according to ASTM D7423 and related methods.
- Safe High-Pressure LPG Sample Handling
Perform laboratory LPG analysis using risk-assessed, directive-compliant hardware for cylinder-based workflows.
