High-Precision Biogas Analysis for Renewable Energy Applications

Biogas plays an increasingly important role in renewable energy production and grid injection. Depending on feedstock and production process, biogas can contain a wide range of components, including methane, carbon dioxide, permanent gases, light hydrocarbons, sulphur compounds, siloxanes, terpenes and ammonia. Accurate and reliable analysis is essential to ensure process efficiency, equipment protection and compliance with grid specifications.

The GAS Biogas Analyser provides custom-configured GC solutions for comprehensive biogas analysis based on proven GC technology. Configurations range from compact, fast analysers for routine composition and calorific value determination to multi-channel systems for extended trace analysis. All analysers are designed for high uptime, excellent repeatability and full compliance with international standards.

GAS provides several biogas analyser, based on Thermo Trace GC1600 and CompactGC4.0.

  • Biogas Composition Analysis

    Determine methane, carbon dioxide, permanent gases and light hydrocarbons using TCD and FID detection.

  • Calorific Value and Energy Content

    Automatically calculate calorific value, Wobbe index, density and compression factor according to ISO 6976.

  • Trace Sulphur Monitoring

    Analyse H₂S, COS and mercaptans at ppm to ppb levels using PFPD, FPD or GC-MS configurations.

  • Siloxanes and Terpenes Analysis

    Detect siloxanes to prevent silica deposits and engine damage. Detect terpenes to control VOC contamination, prevent fouling in upgrading systems, and monitor feedstock-related gas quality changes.

  • Ammonia and Impurity Detection

    Measure ammonia using TCD, PDD and MS for process control and downstream equipment protection.
